Award Criteria – All Development Awards have the following criteria unless otherwise stated.
– Your development must have been completed within the previous three years
– Your development must have been operating/received occupancy for at least three months as of the 1 June 2023 *except Sustainable Development
– Your development must not have previously won the award. 

Best New Commercial Property
This award recognises and publicly rewards the outstanding development of a new commercial property in Western Australia.

Best Commercial Fit Out/Refurbishment
This award recognises excellence in the refurbishment of a commercial office space or a commercial fit out. This could include multiple floors or part of a floor. Innovation in responses should be clearly expressed. 

Best Retail Development (76+ Stores)
This award recognises and publicly rewards the outstanding development of a large retail development (76+ stores) in Western Australia.

Best Retail Development (75 Stores and Under)
This award recognises and publicly rewards the outstanding development of a small retail development (75 stores and under) in Western Australia.

Best Retail Fitout/Refurbishment
This award recognises and publicly rewards an outstanding fitout or refurbishment of a single store or small-scale refurbishment project within a retail centre in Western Australia.

Best Master Planned Community
This award is for a master planned community, excluding master planned apartment only communities. Where the development is multi staged the entrant may nominate a completed stage and will be awarded based on the completed stage only. Entrants should include how your development initiatives are over and above what is required by mandatory regulation or conditions of approvals.

Best Residential Development (3 Storeys or Less)
This award recognises the best residential development (3 storeys or less above the ground level), excluding master planned communities. This award can include townhouses, long stay residentials, retirement living, build to sell, build to rent and student accommodation. Entrants should include how your development initiatives are over and above what is required by mandatory regulation or conditions of approvals.

Best Residential Development (4 Storeys or more)
This award recognises the best residential development (4 Storeys or more above the ground level), excluding master planned communities. This award can include long stay residentials, retirement living, build to sell, build to rent and student accommodation. Entrants should include how your development initiatives are over and above what is required by mandatory regulation or conditions of approvals.

Best Retirement Living Development, Refurbishment or Facilities Upgrade
This award recognises the best new development or complete refurbishment, or facilities upgrade within a retirement living community. Where the development is multi staged the entrant may nominate a completed stage and will be awarded on the basis of the completed stage only. The entrant may also nominate further stages as they are completed in future awards but will only be recognised for those nominated stages not previous ones. The facility must operate under the Retirement Villages Act.

Best Industrial Development
This award recognises and publicly rewards the development of a new or refurbished Industrial development.

Best Mixed – Use Development
This award recognises and rewards innovation in a mixed-use development/precinct. For the purpose of the award, a mixed-use development is a development that comprise at least two substantive uses of the following; office, retail, residential, tourism and leisure, community facilities, aged care, retirement living, logistics/warehouse, distribution or high technology.

Best Regional Development (Outside Perth and Peel)
This award recognises and publicly rewards the development of a new or substantially refurbished regional development in any asset class. Eligible entrants are outside the boundaries of the Perth and Peel areas. Virtual Site Tours may be required for the finalists in this category.

Best Leisure and Tourism Development
This award recognises and publicly rewards the efficient use of capital in a new or substantially refurbished Tourism and/or Leisure development. Virtual Site Tours may be required for the finalists in this category.

Best Community Infrastructure
This award recognises and publicly rewards the efficient use of capital in a new or substantially refurbished community infrastructure. Community Infrastructure includes areas open to the public. Virtual Site Tours may be required for the finalists in this category.

Best Sustainable Development
This award recognises and encourages the demonstrated application of sustainability practices that reduce a project’s eco footprint over the entire lifecycle. Entrants should include how your development initiatives are over and above what is required by mandatory regulation or conditions of approvals. Your project must be operation for at least 1 year as of 1 June 2023.

OPERATIONAL awards

Award Criteria – All Operational Awards have the following criteria unless otherwise stated.
– Eligible entrants are owners of properties that have been operating for at least six months as of the 1 June 2023
– Your operational must not have previously won the award.
Operational Awards may be combined into an overall Best Commercial/Retail Operation.

Best Commercial Operation
This award recognises and publicly rewards the outstanding operation of a commercial property in Western Australia.

Best Retail Operation
This award recognises and publicly rewards the outstanding operation of a retail property in Western Australia.

innovation and marketing awards

Award Criteria – All Innovation and Marketing Awards have the following criteria unless otherwise stated.
– Eligible entrants are campaigns that took place between 2 June 2022 and 1 June 2023
– If your campaign won in a previous year, there must be a point of difference between the campaigns. 

Best Community Activation
This award recognises the best community activation. The activation can relate to an event or initiative. The event or initiative must demonstrate benefit to the industry and or the community.

Best Community Engagement
This award recognises the best community engagement. The engagement can relate to a program, service and/or other initiative. The engagement must demonstrate a beneficial relationship between the entrant and the target stakeholder group and/or the community.

Best Innovation Award
This award recognises innovation that creates significant advancement and improvement within the property industry. The innovation can relate to a product, program, service and/or other initiative. The innovation must have benefit to the industry and or the community.

Best Retail Marketing Campaign 
This award recognises a marketing campaign in the retail sector for a project, initiative, or brand. The retail marketing campaign is recognised for its excellence in achieving awareness, conversion, or sales objectives against measurable goal/s. The campaign must demonstrate a clear purpose and measurable success against the proposed campaign objectives.

Best Property Sales Marketing Campaign
This award recognises a marketing campaign in property sales. The campaign is recognised for its excellence in marketing the property for sale to both grow awareness and convert buyers. The campaign must demonstrate a clear purpose and measurable success against the campaign objectives.

Best Diversity of Inclusion Initiative
This award recognises the diversity initiatives or inclusivity initiatives in the workplace and/or the community. The initiative must demonstrate a clear understanding of the diversity/inclusion it is targeting.

individual AND TEAM awards

Award Criteria – All Individual and Team Awards have the following criteria unless otherwise stated.
– Eligible entrants must have live projects in WA
– Be domiciled/located in WA
– You/Your team must not have won the award previously. 

WA Property Agent of the Year
This award recognises individual excellence in the role of sales agent or leasing agent.

WA Property Manager of the Year
This award recognises individual excellence in Property Management, Facilities Management or Strata Management role.

WA Property Leader of the Year
The purpose of this award is to acknowledge, recognise, encourage and, most importantly, promote the positive contribution made to the industry by property professionals.

WA Property Team of the Year
This award recognises excellence in a property team of the year. The team could be Property Management, Facilities Management, Strata Management, Development Management, Consultancy Team, Sales Agency, or Leasing Agency. Your team must consist or 2 or more people but must not exceed 15 people.

Stan Perron Future Leader of the Year
This award recognises a young property professional who is under the age of 35 as of 1 June 2023 and has made a significant contribution to industry, who can demonstrate the capacity for leadership with a clear vision for the future and who embodies the business values of Stan Perron – Integrity, Respect, Excellence, and Team Work – in their professional career.
